| On the second day, after leaving the Central Whirinaki Hut for the Mangamate Hut, we did about 140 stream crossings. It took us 6 hours of hard work, navigating through nettles and deep slushy mud gritty with pumice. The trail isn't always obvious, but when in doubt, you can always just walk in the stream until you find another marker. |
