| A welcome sight after our 16 km hike in the rain from the River Road carpark. The track was narrowed in a few places due to washouts, and was missing completely in one area (but the detour wasn't gruelling). Otherwise a good track and fairly flat. The hut is surrounded by beech trees and tree ferns, and the Whirinaki River is close by. |
