Rangitoto, Lava Cave
Geology: Rangitoto, Lava Cave
Rangitoto is a volcanic island near Auckland that is about 600 years old. In some areas, as lava flowed down from the crater, the outside skin cooled and solidified, while the still-molten lava underneath flowed through and out, leaving tube-like lava caves.
