Plants, ferns: Kidney Fern, Waitakere Ranges
Trichomanes reniforme, or raurenga in Maori. Although one of the filmy ferns and very delicate, it can survive extended dry periods by curling its fronds up tightly and then opening them up again as soon as rain falls.
