Gannet colony on Otakamiro Point
Muriwai: Gannet colony on Otakamiro Point
In 1979, overcrowding on Motutara Island forced gannets to colonise this point on the mainland, and they started breeding here shortly after. The colony is still expanding and has taken over another headland of the point as well.
